Nepal Govt shuts down entertainment sector till Jan 29

In light of the country’s rising coronavirus cases, the government has imposed a shutdown on the entertainment industry until January 29.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Gyanendra Bahadur Karki announced the cabinet meeting decision to close movie & entertainment theaters, all types of night businesses, and gym halls until January 29.

Similarly, shopping malls, department stores, and party palaces will be permitted to operate on a conditional basis.

According to a new government order, only 25 people will be permitted to enter shopping malls and department stores at one time. A facemask is required.

Furthermore, after obtaining the approval of the Chief District Officer, party palaces will be able to conduct religious and cultural activities such as marriages and others, provided the capacity is reduced to one-third of the total capacity and a maximum of 50 people attend.
