Nepal Electricity Authority’s Pole Rental Fee Collection Process Begins

Nepal Electricity Authority’s long-stalled pole rental fee collection process has finally begun. Internet service provider WorldLink Communications has started the pole rental fee payment process through the Distribution and Consumer Service Directorate, Bagmati Province Divisional Office of the Nepal Electricity Authority.

WorldLink has proceeded with the payment process based on the pole rental fee determined by the self-declaration of the fiscal year 2082/83, after deducting taxes. The company has also adjusted the previous double payment and paid the remaining amount based on the certification of poles and DB boxes for the fiscal year 2081/82.

Meanwhile, Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation, Biraj Bhatta Shrestha, stated that all service providers using the state’s infrastructure have a responsibility to pay the fees on time as per the law. He welcomed the payment process initiated by WorldLink, calling it a positive start, and expressed hope that other service providers will also fulfill their responsibilities as per the law.

Minister Shrestha clarified that the government is committed to the rule of law and impartial implementation of the law, and any practical problems that arise during implementation will be resolved within the limits of the law. He also warned against attempts to unnecessarily politicize the implementation of the law or create confusion, stating that the government’s policy is to implement the law equally for all.
