Nepal’s Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadka Raj Paudel, has expressed deep concern over reports that a team of climbers, including renowned Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja, have gone missing in Pakistan’s Broad Peak.
Minister Paudel stated on social media that he is in regular contact with Pakistani authorities regarding the search and rescue efforts for the missing team.
‘We are deeply concerned about the news that Nirmal Purja and other Nepali climbers have gone missing in Pakistan,’ Minister Paudel said. ‘We are in regular contact with Pakistani officials and are receiving updates on the situation.’
The minister further stated, ‘Our thoughts and best wishes are with the climbers and their families. We hope for their safe return.’
A 10-member international climbing team led by Nirmal Purja went missing while attempting to climb the 8,047-meter-high Broad Peak in Pakistan’s Karakoram mountain range.
