Nepal Sees 3,951 Disasters in Four Months, 193 Deaths

Nepal has witnessed a total of 3,951 disasters across the country from Baisakh 1 to Shrawan 14, resulting in the loss of 193 lives, three missing persons, and 1,165 injured individuals. Additionally, 5,087 families have been affected by these disasters.

According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, the most frequent disasters during this period were 1,202 fire incidents, 670 snake bites, 662 lightning strikes, 479 landslides, 231 floods, 226 heavy rainfall events, 218 wild animal attacks, 198 floods, and 191 storms.

In a separate incident, from Shrawan 13 to Shrawan 14, 34 disasters occurred across the country, leaving 13 people injured and 23 rescued. The total damage from these incidents is estimated to be around Rs 4.18 million.

During this period, eight snake bites, eight fires, nine heavy rainfall events, five lightning strikes, one flood, and three wild animal attacks were reported. Furthermore, from Shrawan 13 to Shrawan 14, 266 out of 448 rainfall measuring centers recorded rainfall, with the highest amount of 104.6 mm in Dhodhara, Kanchanpur.
